Udaipur: MLSU to Introduce Vedas, Upanishads and Ancient Sciences in New Curriculum

Mohan Lal Sukhadia University (MLSU) in Udaipur will soon offer courses in Vedas, Upanishads, and ancient Indian arts and culture. The decision to implement the IKS at Sukhadia University was made during a recent Vice Chancellor Coordination Committee meeting held at Jaipur Raj Bhavan.

This new curriculum is part of the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) being developed under the new education policy. If approved by the government, these courses could start as early as this year.

Professor Neeraj Mishra, head of the Sanskrit department, has been tasked with creating the curriculum. The university plans to offer both degree and certificate courses, covering a wide range of subjects including Vedic literature, Shastra tradition, Vedic agriculture, political science, Ayurveda, yoga, and more. The curriculum will also feature texts like the Ramayana, Mahabharata, Vidura Niti, and the Gita, along with subjects like physics, botany, and mathematics.

These Subjects Will Be Taught First 

  1. Hindu Studies
  2. Study of the Gita
  3. Manuscript Science
  4. Preservation of Ancient Indian Art and Culture
