NEET PG 2024: Revised Exam Date Sparks Student Discontent

The examination will now take place on June 23, 2024

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has stirred dissatisfaction among aspiring medical students with its decision to reschedule the National Eligibility Entrance Test (Postgraduate) for NEET PG 2024. Originally slated for July 4, 2024, the examination will now take place on June 23, 2024.

The alteration in the examination date was confirmed following a meeting convened by the Post Graduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB), Directorate General for Health Sciences, National Board of Examinations for Medical Sciences, and National Medical Commission in consultation with the Medical Counselling Committee.

The rescheduled timeline unveils a swift progression, with the postgraduate entrance examination results set to be announced on July 15, 2024. Subsequently, counselling is slated to commence on August 5 and conclude on October 15, 2024.

However, discontent brews among the student community, who have taken to social media platforms to voice their displeasure. The revised schedule presents challenges and disruptions to their preparedness and planning for the crucial examination.

Moreover, the new academic session, commencing on September 16, 2024, poses logistical hurdles for prospective candidates aiming to seamlessly transition into the postgraduate medical program. The deadline for joining the academic session is fixed on  October 21, 2024.

In a related decision, the NMC has stipulated August 15, 2024, as the cut-off date for internship completion, rendering candidates eligible for NEET PG 2024.

As murmurs of discontent reverberate across social media channels, students await further clarifications and resolutions from the concerned authorities regarding the revised examination schedule.
