NEET UG 2024: SC Directs NTA to Release Exam Marks
The Supreme Court has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to disclose the city and centre-wise results of the NEET UG 2024 by Friday, 5:00 pm, while keeping student identities anonymous. This order follows a plea regarding alleged exam irregularities, with the court set to reconvene on Monday for further deliberation.
During the hearing, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought non-disclosure of exam centres, but the court emphasized that centre-wise results could reveal important patterns in marks. The Chief Justice acknowledged incidents of paper leaks in Patna and Hazaribagh, underscoring concerns over exam integrity.
The court stressed that any decision on conducting a re-examination must hinge on concrete evidence of widespread exam breaches affecting the entire process. The NTA informed the court that medical counselling will commence nationwide on July 24, 2024, further highlighting the urgency of resolving the matter.
Further developments are expected as the court reviews the disclosed exam results and considers the petitioners arguments regarding the alleged systemic irregularities in the NEET UG 2024 exam. The hearing has been adjourned until Monday for continued discussions on the matter.
