Full details on new syllabus and exam pattern for Chartered Accountancy Foundation, Inter and Final
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has recently unveiled a revised examination scheme for CA Final, Intermediate, and Foundation courses, starting from May 2024 onwards. The new scheme brings about a complete transformation in the exam pattern, reducing the number of exams from 8 to 6 for both CA Intermediate and CA Final levels. Additionally, multiple-choice questions (MCQs) have been introduced across all subjects in CA Inter and CA Final.
Moreover, there have been modifications in the duration of the CA Articleship period. Previously, it spanned three years, but now it has been shortened to two years under the new scheme, applicable from May 2024 onwards. Consequently, the total duration of the CA course has also been adjusted, decreasing from 48 months to 42 months.

Passing Criteria for CA Foundation, Intermediate and Final under the new course May 2024 onwards:
Under the new scheme implemented by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), exempt papers, wherein students have scored 60 marks or above, will be considered as permanently passed papers. This means that students do not need to attempt these papers again in subsequent attempts.
To successfully clear the remaining papers, students must individually achieve a minimum of 50% marks in each of those papers. However, it is important to note that students also have the option to surrender their exemptions if they choose to do so. This allows them to appear for all the papers in the new scheme instead of relying on their exempted status.
