No Counter Signature Required on TCs: CBSE Reminds

The CBSE had earlier ended the process of obtaining a counter signature on TCs from one CBSE-affiliated school to another back in 2014

Udaipur, Nov 5, 2025 - The Central Board of Secondary Education has instructed all affiliated schools not to send any request to the Board headquarters or regional office for a counter signature on Transfer Certificates (TCs).

The CBSE had earlier ended the process of obtaining a counter signature on TCs from one CBSE-affiliated school to another back in 2014.

"However, the CBSE Headquarters and regional offices still receive requests for countersignature of transfer certificates. Non-compliance of CBSE guidelines by schools causes huge inconvenience to stakeholders and is also a hindrance to facilitating all in this age of digitisation," said CBSE Examination Controller Sanyam Bhardwaj.

The Board has again reminded and directed all schools that requests for counter signatures should not be sent to the headquarters or regional offices. Now, verification of the TC will be done at the school level itself, and this authority has been delegated to the school principal, manager or secretary.

This decision has been taken to eliminate inconvenience for students and parents and to simplify the process in the digital era, ensuring that students face no difficulty while seeking admission elsewhere.
