Private schools issued defamation notice worth 10 crore rupees to the Minister.

-The word "dhandha" has been considered degrogatory by private schools.

-The word was used several times in a press briefing by the Minister.

This is yet another turn regarding the dispute going on between private schools and the government. The private schools have issued a defamation notice worth 10 crore rupees to the Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasara.

National Independent Schools Alliance president has sent a defamation notice to Education Minister Dotasara claiming that the minister used derogatory remarks against the private schools several times in a recent press briefing. This new turn has come immediately after the current strike of the private schools against the government regarding reduction of school fees.

As per the notice, the Education minister used the word “dhandha” which defames the schools. The notice is dated 10th November. The NISA demands that the minister should apologise immediately and in case he doesn’t do so, the association will initiate the defamation proceedings against him worth 10 crores.

There on the other hand, the Education Minister has clarified that he hasn’t yet received any notice and would respond the moment he receives one. He also advised that the private schools must give up the protests and stop wasting time and get back to work (this is where the term ‘dhandha’ was used by him which is actually a general term used for any kind of work but is being taken in the wrong sense).

It may be noted that the private schools are protesting since long and online classes have been stopped for the students since 5th November.
