AISHE Report: Rajasthan houses maximum number of universities in India

Ladakh, Chandigarh, Goa and Mizoram are the cities with the lowest universities

 

According to the most recent All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) Report from the Ministry of Education, Rajasthan has the most universities in India, followed by Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. Additionally, the study listed the names of the districts with the most colleges. 

The report states that Rajasthan has one centrally and state-run university, five institutes of national importance (IITS, IIMs, and NITs), 26 state public universities, 7 deemed to be universities and 52 state private universities. 

Aside from these, Chandigarh, Goa, and Mizoram, each with three universities, are the other three cities with the lowest universities, with Ladakh having the lowest. Bengluru district has the most colleges among the districts, followed by Jaipur and Hyderabad. There are 8114 colleges in Uttar Pradesh, and there are 32 colleges for every lakh people. Maharashtra places second with 4532 in terms of colleges and 34 colleges per lakh population. Rajasthan is in fourth place with 3694 colleges and 40 colleges per lakh population, followed by Karnataka in third place with 4233 colleges and 62 colleges per lakh population.
