In a move to expedite the execution of the National Education Policy 2020, the University of Rajasthan has successfully concluded the formulation of syllabus, additional courses and a credit scheme featuring a user-friendly marking system for all its academic programs.

Professor Alpana Kateja, the Vice-Chancellor, shared that over the past two months, the university has engaged in fruitful one-on-one meetings with representatives from both government and private colleges affiliated with the institution. The primary aim of these discussions was to gain insights into any challenges or issues hindering the smooth implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 and, subsequently, develop strategies to streamline the process effectively.

The assessment system at the University of Rajasthan has been structured to comprise 80% from examinations and 20% from continuous assessment, which includes internals, practicals and overall conduct in class, as highlighted by the vice-chancellor.

Here is a breakdown of how exams will be conducted

Regular Degree Students

• Mid-term examinations will be conducted exclusively for regular degree students.
• End semester exams will also be held as part of the overall assessment.

Non-Collegiate Students

• For non-collegiate students, exams for both semesters will be conducted concurrently in May-June.

Teachers at the University of Rajasthan are following the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC) by engaging in online sessions. The university has outlined a schedule for teachers from both private and government colleges to participate in training sessions. After completing the training, they are required to take a test to ensure proficiency.

Here are the key points

• Teachers are expected to attend training sessions based on the schedule provided by the university.
• Following the training, teachers must take a test to demonstrate their understanding and competence.
• Teachers are scheduled to conduct classes for eight days within a two-week period.

It is  worth noting that the UGC has set a national target to train 15 lakh teachers across the country. This initiative reflects the university's commitment to keeping its teaching staff updated and ensuring they meet the standards set by the regulatory body for higher education in India.
