Theater Festival: Ira Dube enacts "Devika Rani" at Radisson Udaipur

Lillete Dube directed play "Devika Rani" by Kishwar Desai was staged on the second day of the Theater Festival at Radisson, Udaipur.

Shraddha Murdia of the Ehsaas Mahila Group informed that the story of the first lady of Indian Cinema was shocased in the play "Devika Rani". The play is set in the 1930s, and tells the story of Devika Rani becoming a superstar from the time she was 16 and a student of architecture.

The play not only depicts the professional life of Devika Rani, but also th emotional ups and downs of the first lady of Indian Cinema. Devika Rani's journey from being a students to the lead actress in Bollywood and the establishing of "Bombay Talkies" by Devika Rani and her first husband Himanshu Roy.  It goes on to show her retirement from Bollywood and second marriage to Russian artist Svetoslav Rorrik. Najmul Hassan's dialog in his voice - "किरदार निभाना भी क्या अजीब रोज़गार होता है, उधार वह लेते हैं और चुकाना हमें पड़ता है"

Ira Dube enacted the role of Devika Rani while Joy Sengupta played the role of Himanshu Rai and Mark Benington played the role of Svetoslav Rorrik.

The stage was hosted by Ehsaas team, viz. Swati Agarwal, Shraddha Murdia, Mumal Bhandari, Kanika Agarwal, Riddhima Doshi and Shubh Singhvi.
