Cultural program centres long for live performances
-The pandemic era has brought a lot of disappointment.
-Tourism industry needs to get back on tracks, and cultural performances are one big attraction in Udaipur.
The art and performance centres have been opened for the tourists since a number of tourists are visiting Udaipur. Lok Kala Mandal, Bagore ki Haveli, Shilpgram etc. are such centres which provide a good peep into the art and culture of Mewar. The only point of concern is that tourists are feeling a bit disappointed as there are no live performances to bind them, a thing which actually lures tourists to these beautiful places.
These cultural centres actually have been providing a good deal of entertainment via folk dance, songs, theatres and other traditional performances. With the beginning of this pandemic, this special entertainment industry has suffered a great deal. The tourists wish to see live performances as the artists are full of energy and enthusiasm during their performances and witnessing the colours of Rajasthan is what every tourist longs for, be it international or domestic.
The lockdown guidelines are still in place; hence live performances are not possible. Puppet shows have commenced, but that is not enough from tourism point of view. Lok Kala Mandal used to have 2 cultural programmes daily, but none can be done now.
“Dharohar” under the banner of West Zone Cultural Centre is also under lockdown and tourists return disappointed cursing the pandemic. Even so, these centres are opened for tourists so that they can have a good view of the museum, the traditional and heritage products are on display. All are waiting for the pandemic era to end so that life gets back to tourist spots with full vigour.
