The talented 12th Fail actor announced his decision to quit in the new year; fans and colleagues shocked
December 2, 2024 – Talented Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey has thrown a bombshell by suddenly announcing his retirement from the film industry in 2025. The 12th Fail actor took to Instagram to share this news which has left his fans shocked and bewildered as to what could be the reason behind it.
“The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support (namaste emoji). But as I move forward, I realise it's time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father & a Son. And also as an Actor. So coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right. Last 2 movies and many a years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between. Forever indebted,” Vikrant wrote in his retirement announcement.
Massey’s latest film The Sabarmati Report has earned much praise for its bold story-telling and continues to do well at the box office. It is based on the controversial Godhra train burning incident and also stars Raashi Khanna and Ridhi Dogra. However, post the film’s release, the actor has reportedly been receiving threats. So, could this be the reason for the actor’s decision to quit the film industry? Many of his fans and colleagues believe that the recent trolling and threats was getting to the actor…making him feel suffocated enough to want to leave all of this and move away.
Massey has confirmed the threats. “Yes, I have received threats, and more are likely to come”, he said in an interview. “But, as artists, we tell stories. This film is based on facts, and it’s something we, as a team, are dealing with together. We will handle it the way it needs to be handled.”
What was disturbing to him was that even his nine-month-old son was put under the scanner. “These people know I became a father recently to a child who can’t even walk yet. They are dragging his name, and I am concerned for his safety. What society are we living in?” he asked.
However, he did not disclose the reason behind his retirement decision.
The actor has two movies coming up - Yaar Jigri and Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan. After which he plans to hang up his boots.
