2020 will not witness Shilpgram fest
-Covid has affected a lot of events, celebrations and festivities.
-For the 1st time in 31 years, the fest will not be held.
The most loved and awaited Shilpgram fest is not going to happen this year. 2020 has been full of changes and up and downs right from the start with the pandemic taking its toll on people. This resulted in a lot of festivities undergoing unwanted changes and many events have been cancelled. Shilpgram fest is yet another fest that stands cancelled in 2020 after a lot of fairs and events going off the charts.
It has been a disappointment to learn that the rural art fest will not happen this year, but as per reports 2021 might witness 2 fests in Shilpgram if the pandemic stays low. Every year arrangements for the fest begin around mid October, artists are invited, tenders are invited for the stalls but covid has obstructed all these. It was being hoped that the fest will be delayed by a few days, but now there is no likelihood of the fest this year. Yet there are all the probabilities that 2021 will witness 2 Shilpgram fests, one at the end of January or the beginning of February and one in December as per usual dates.
Yes, it is a disappointment that the fest is not happening in December 2020 because people look forward to traditional shopping and the cuisines from different places in this beautiful place; but safety is important. It is another issue and an important one that the cancellation of this fest will result in a loss of 10 crore rupees.
It may be noted that even the Kumbhalgarh fest from 1st December to 3rd December has also been cancelled. The 3-day fest organised by the Department of Tourism is attended by around 7000 tourists and there is no entry fee for the fort during this time. The festival is full of culture and colours and is a very eye-catching event.
