‘Bharat First’ Should be Priority of NGOs: Nimbaram
A one-day workshop of NGOs in Udaipur emphasises on bringing benefits of government schemes to the deprived
Udaipur, December 13, 2024 - Enabling the deprived and the needy to get their due rights or helping the needy avail of the benefits of government schemes is actually humanitarian work. NGOs should function in this direction even if it means reforming their style of functioning, keeping Bharat First as a priority.
These were the views expressed by keynote speaker Nimbaram of Kshetra Pracharak of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) while addressing a one-day workshop of NGOs. The meeting was held at JRN Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, Udaipur, in which representatives of 25 NGOs of Rajasthan participated.
This was the second one-day annual workshop of right-orientated awareness campaign NGOs working with Bharat First idea in mind and engaged in taking the benefits of government schemes to the deprived sections. The first workshop had been conducted on December10, 2023, in Jaipur on World Human Rights Day.
Nimbaram said that the basic premise of any organisation should be collectiveness and not individualism. Only then can the work done achieve the desired goal. He also said that the NGOs work and goals must supplement the overall social and national interests.
Introducing the purpose of the programme, speaker Manoj Kumar said that we all must work keeping in mind the idea of Bharat First. Only then can there be broad social awareness and government schemes will reach out to one and all. He called upon the NGOs to concentrate on monthly work and their proper documentation as well as coordination.
One of the key speakers in this workshop was Dr Meena Kumari, associate director of Deendayal Shodh Sansthan. She outlined the significant role played by NGOs in making people avail the benefit of government schemes. She also expressed the need to make NGOs more pro-active by popularising their work through social media. NGOs should also focus on conducting regular activities in their particular area of work, Dr Kumari said.
The role of office, audit, staff and interns to make effective content was also discussed in the workshop.
Presiding over the programme, Vice Chancellor of JRN Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University Udaipur, Professor S.S. Sarangdevot said that such workshops help in increasing the efficiency of NGOs and give them a proper perspective. Emphasising the significance of research in this context, he also mentioned the importance of World Human Rights Day. He reminded the gathering of the universal declaration of human rights by the UN in 1948 and their commitment to it.
