Gavri dance ritual promises to entertain visitors to the Shilpgram during the festival from December 21 to 30; art exhibition, sculpture displays, food and craft stalls will be other attractions
Udaipur, December 20,2024 - The Gavri dance-drama of the Bhil tribe will be presented daily from December 21 to 30 at the Shilpgram Festival. This information was given by the Western Regional Cultural Centre (WRCC) director, Furqan Khan. Gavri is a dance form that represents the adornment of Nature in its true form and is a blend of Lord Shiva's Tandav and the grace of Goddess Gauri.
Khan said that the Gavri dance and rituals, which last for about a month and a quarter starting from the first day of the dark fortnight of Bhadrapada, are very popular in Mewar and its surrounding regions, attracting audiences from across the country and abroad. The main characters of the dance, such as Budiya, Rai, Bhopa and Kutkutia, will provide special entertainment for visitors to the Shilpgram Festival.
Apart from Gavri, the organisers have an impressive line-up of dances and performances to be presented by around 800 folk artists from across 20 Indian States. There will also be 65 cultural groups who will showcase their unique skills through Bherupia, Kachchi Ghodi, Kachchi Lok Gayan, Chakri Taal, Kaalbeliya and more. The stage at the venue will be a witness to a variety of folk dance performances from 6:00 pm onwards.
As every year, this year, too, the Shilpgram Festival promises to be exciting with art exhibition, sculpture displays, food stalls, craft stalls and a varying display of artistic skills.
