Dengue is becoming uncontrollable in the city, with a significant rise in cases amid seasonal illnesses. In the past five days, 105 dengue patients have been reported. On September 26 alone, 22 new cases were identified. Results from around 4,000 samples taken are still expected.

Since January, a total of 553 dengue patients have been reported. Of these, 291 patients are from the city and nearby areas of Badgaon and Girwa block. Alarmingly, over 50% of the patients are within urban limits. Currently, more than 300 patients with fever and dengue are admitted to MB Hospital, overwhelming the medical department. However, officials claim the number of dengue cases is lower than in 2023.

In comparison, statistics show that there were 623 dengue patients reported in 2023. In 2022, the number of cases was 537. Records indicate there were 278 patients until August 2023, while this year's figure until August 2024 stands at 533, showing a decrease from the previous year.

SP Yogesh Goyal has raised concerns over the rising dengue cases in the police line area. He recently wrote to the CMHO, highlighting the risk to police personnel and their families. He noted that several patients are in serious condition and requested a medical team be sent to the police line for treatment. He also urged the Municipal Commissioner, Ram Prakash, to conduct fogging in the area.

Deputy CMHO Dr. Ankit Jain emphasized the medical department's seriousness about seasonal illnesses. He urged the public to be cautious about dengue and to eliminate standing water, where Aedes mosquitoes breed. Symptoms of dengue include severe headache, high fever, muscle and joint pain, pain behind the eyes, nausea, and skin rashes.
