Dengue Cases: 42 Cases Recorded in a Day
Udaipur is witnessing a sharp increase in dengue cases. Recent data revealed that in just one day, 42 new cases were reported. This comes after 41 cases were recorded in a single day earlier. As of now, the total number of dengue cases in Udaipur over the past 9 months and 9 days has reached 787.
The health administration, which was previously not disclosing any dengue-related deaths, has now confirmed one death. On October 6, 2024, a 28-year-old resident from the Ayad area died during a health checkup due to dengue.
The health department has requested data on deaths from private hospitals to continue investigations. However, there are concerns that private hospitals might alter the data due to fear of bad publicity. Deputy CMHO Dr. Ankit Jain explained that since the COVID-19 pandemic, a Death Audit Committee has been established at the Medical College to carefully assess the cause of death. The committee looks into all symptoms and factors before confirming a dengue-related death.
In the case of an elderly resident from Jagdish Chowk, the officials said they would wait for the Death Audit Committee's report before officially declaring the death as dengue-related.
The health department has also announced steps to improve health facilities and advised people to take precautions against dengue.
