Udaipur Medical Department has initiated a Dengue Control Month for July 2024 to combat mosquito-borne diseases prevalent during the rainy season.  Over 3,000 employees, including ASHA workers, ANMs, and Community Health Officers (CHOs), are executing a specialized plan.

Door-to-Door Surveys

High-risk areas identified for malaria and dengue will undergo targeted interventions. This includes house-to-house surveys and preemptive mosquito control measures.

In cases of disease detection, immediate malaria treatment will be administered on-site. Additionally, focused surveys will be conducted in approximately 50 households to monitor mosquito presence and patient numbers.

Additional Ways to Curb the Disease

Dr. Shankarlal Bamnia, CMHO, highlighted the measures such as MLO spraying, drainage coverage, and regular release of Gambusia fish (Mosquitofish) into clean water ponds to curb disease spread.

Deputy CMHO Dr. Ankit Jain emphasized ongoing efforts to raise awareness and eliminate rainwater-filled pits near residential areas. Health workers will conduct activities to reduce mosquito breeding sites, map potential hotspots, and ensure effective monitoring and supervision by the medical department.
