Dengue Situation in Udaipur Under Control, Says Medical Department

Udaipur Municipal Corporation has collaborated to conduct fogging in two phases across all wards of the city

The medical department has announced that the dengue situation in Udaipur is currently under control. Recent reports indicate a decrease in the number of patients, with 36 fewer cases than last week. This week, only 118 patients have been reported, compared to 164 cases last week.

Effective Monitoring and Awareness

CMHO Dr. Shankarlal Bamaniya attributed the improved situation to the effective monitoring by District Collector Arvind Poswal and increased public awareness. However, it is concerning that 26 new dengue-positive cases were reported just on Friday, October 11,2024. This brings the total number of dengue patients to 832 in the past nine months.

Sufficient Stock of Medicines

All medical institutions in Udaipur are well-stocked with essential medicines and insecticides, including MLO, Temifos, and Pyrethrum.

Fogging Operations Underway

Udaipur Municipal Corporation has collaborated to conduct fogging in two phases across all wards of the city. Currently, a third phase of fogging is being carried out in high-risk areas during two shifts morning and evening. The state government has approved funds for deploying 79 District-Based Surveillance Coordinators (DBSCs) to assist with these activities.

Reporting Through ODK Marudhar App

The reporting of dengue cases is being facilitated through the ODK Marudhar app. The first phase of alpha-cypermethrin spraying in sensitive areas has already been completed, with the second phase expected to finish by October 15.

Public Awareness Initiatives

Udaipur has been divided into four parts for targeted prevention and control actions. Surveys and focal spraying are being conducted in 50 households for each reported case. Dr. Bamaniya highlighted that intensive survey campaigns are being carried out by ASHA teams. To further raise awareness, the department is using  pamphlets, posters, stickers, FM radio, hoardings, auto-miking, and social media. The medical department assures that these efforts will continue to combat the dengue outbreak effectively.
