MB Hospital Expands ECG Facilities Across All Wards

The addition of new ECG machines is expected to reduce the load on Emergency Department...

The only NABH-category MB Hospital in the state has expanded its ECG facilities to all 60 of its wards. The hospital administration recently purchased 35 new ECG machines at a cost of approximately Rs 7 lakh, funded by the Rajasthan Medicare Relief Society (RMRS) budget.

Single Machine Available in Emergency Department

Previously, ECG machines were available in only 30 wards. Patients in other wards had to cross the street within the hospital premises and visit the emergency department for ECGs. This led to high pressure on the single machine available in the emergency department.

Six Thousand OPD Patients Daily

With the new machines, every ward now has its own ECG facility. The hospital has an average of 6,000 OPD patients daily and 1,835 beds across its 60 wards, excluding ICU wards. ICU wards are equipped with bedside X-ray machines, and 10 additional X-ray machines are available in various buildings.

300 ECG Performed Daily

Currently, 300 ECGs are performed daily in the emergency department. The addition of new ECG machines is expected to reduce the load on this department. While only two ECG technicians are assigned to the cardiology department, nursing staff trained in operating the new machines will manage ECGs in the wards. Resident doctors and specialists will also be able to use the machines when needed.
