Nikshay Poshan Yojana: Financial Support for TB Patients Increased
The central government has increased the amount provided under the Nikshay Poshan Yojana for tuberculosis (TB) patients. From November 1, 2024 TB patients are receiving Rs 1,000/- per month for nutritious food, up from the previous amount of Rs 500/-.

Currently, there are 145,498 registered TB patients in Rajasthan. The Nikshay Poshan Yojana is designed to help TB patients get the nutrition they need to fight the illness. With this increase, the government aims to ensure that patients receive enough protein and other nutrients that are essential for their recovery.

Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a significant public health issue in India, with an estimated three million new cases and 300,000 TB-related deaths each year. The Nikshay Poshan Yojana is a government initiative in India that provides money to tuberculosis patients for purchasing food. By February 2019, the program had benefited over 10,000 people in Delhi, with 3,800 beneficiaries in Sonitpur district alone.
