Udaipur MB Hospital: Doctors in Radiology Department Giving 24/7 Service Amid Machine Shortage
X-Ray Services Under Pressure at MB Hospital, Udaipur
Udaipur: Due to the CT scan being non-operational for four months at MB Hospital, the pressure on patients has shifted to the New Hospital of the Medical College. In the Radiology Department at the New Hospital, about 70% of the doctors positions are vacant. Out of the 28 sanctioned positions for doctors, only 12 are currently working.
There is a 1.5 Tesla MRI machine, which operates from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. The CT scan machine services are available 24 hours a day. Daily, approximately 65 to 70 MRIs, 100 to 110 CT scans, 300 to 350 sonographies, and 1300 to 1400 X-rays are being conducted.
Department Head Dr. Dharamraj Meena stated that against the 14 positions for assistant professors, there are only 2 professors and 4 assistant professors. Similarly, there are 6 resident doctors, whereas there should be 18. Despite the staff shortage in radiology, services are still being provided here until midnight.
