Udaipur MLA Criticizes Poor Conditions at Women’s Hospital Building at MB
Udaipur MLA Tarachand Jain brought attention to the poor condition of the women’s hospital on Friday, July 19,2024. He highlighted the issues with a dilapidated, vacant building that has been empty for 7 years and a two-story structure built by NHM on top of it. Jain emphasized the suffering of pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns who are affected by these conditions.
Jain noted that MB Hospital, which is 100 years old, serves patients from across the division, including Neemuch and Mandsaur in Madhya Pradesh. The Government Pannadhay Women’s Hospital, situated in the same complex, is 67 years old. During the previous Congress government, a two-story building was constructed on top of the women’s hospital. Despite a budget of Rs 119 crores allocated in 2023, no progress has been made. Jain questioned how the engineer responsible for the construction received a clean chit in the investigation.
MLA Called Health Minister to Investigate
Jain called on the Health Minister to investigate the irregularities and scams and to take appropriate action. He urged for a new budget to be allocated to construct a proper building, ensuring that pregnant women, new mothers, and newborns receive treatment under one roof. Currently, these patients have to move between three different buildings for care.
Shifting Veterinary Hospital at RNT
In addition, Jain proposed that the Veterinary hospital at Chetak Circle be transferred to RNT Medical College and suggested relocating the Veterinary hospital to a larger facility.
Fill Vacant Positions at RNT
He also recommended filling vacant positions for doctors at RNT College and addressing the 200 vacancies for nurses and 156 positions for ward boys and nurses. He stressed the need for 50 patient assistants. Jain pointed out that while Sundar Singh Bhandari District Hospital has all necessary facilities, 70% of its staff positions are unfilled. He also proposed the renovation of the Khemraj Katara Satellite Hospital in Sector-6.
