Udaipur Records Highest Number of Scrub Typhus Cases in the State
More than a week after the monsoon ended, seasonal diseases continue to rise. After dengue, scrub typhus is spreading rapidly in the region. Udaipur district has reported the highest number of scrub typhus cases in the state, with 390 confirmed infections.
Impact in Other Cities
Besides Udaipur, cities like Jaipur, Rajsamand, Alwar, Kota, and Chittorgarh are also experiencing a significant number of cases. This year, 2,450 cases of scrub typhus have been reported across the state, resulting in ten fatalities. Jaipur, the capital, has 385 cases, with six deaths.
Symptoms of Scrub Typhus
The symptoms of scrub typhus include chills followed by fever, headache, muscle pain, and breathing difficulties. Patients may also develop red rashes on their bodies. So far, there has been one reported death each in Sikar, Alwar, Bharatpur, and Sawai Madhopur. Scrub typhus, also known as bush typhus, is caused by bites from mites or fleas.
