The officers learned about the QR code system provided at the hospital

A group of young UPSC-selected civil service officers visited RNT Medical College on Tuesday, November 12,2024. The officers, selected for positions like IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IDES, observed various healthcare systems and processes during their field visit.

The visit began with a warm welcome from Dr. Vipin Mathur, Principal of RNT Medical College. Dr. Mathur gave an overview of the college and its affiliated hospitals. The officers then toured different departments, including MB Hospital, the Super Specialty Department, and the OPD.

Impressive Healthcare Systems

The officers were particularly impressed by the hospital’s systems. They learned about the QR code system used to trigger restroom cleaning, a process that worked quickly and efficiently. This private-hospital-like cleanliness system caught their attention, and they suggested it be adopted in hospitals across the country.

Observing RRR System

The group also observed the RRR (Rapid Referral Redressal) system, which ensures that emergency referral patients are received with a stretcher and a medical team already in place. This system impressed the officers, who appreciated the preparedness and efficiency.

Efficient Discharge Process

The officers were also impressed by the hospital’s patient discharge system. Patients were able to leave without waiting in long lines. They also admired the seating arrangements in the OPD and the smooth flow of discharge information.

Cancer Day Care Interaction

During the visit, the officers interacted with patients at the Cancer Day Care center. They were able to see firsthand the care being provided and learn more about the hospital’s services for cancer patients.

The young officers, from the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration in Mussoorie noted that if such systems were implemented in government hospitals across the country, many healthcare challenges could be solved. The officers expressed their intent to introduce similar service-oriented systems in their future roles and promised to return with their teams for further observation.
