Residents near Ward-55 in Jatwari area were left dismayed as a 100-year-old neem tree, standing by the road near Swaroop Sagar's wall, was recently felled. The incident has triggered significant outrage among the local community.

According to reports, despite the individual responsible for the tree's removal seeking approval and paying a fee of Rs 1700/-, the tree was cut down. The negligence of the Tehsildar and Patwari in overseeing the matter has been cited as the reason for this event.

Upon learning of the incident, Municipal Health Officer Narendra Shrimali was quickly informed. It was revealed that permission to cut down the tree was granted by Girwa Tehsildar, raising concerns about the oversight in the process.

Efforts were made to address the issue as contact was established with the Girwa Tehsildar, and the Patwari's contact details were provided. However, when questioned about the tree's removal, the Patwari failed to provide a satisfactory response.

In response to public inquiries, the Patwari admitted to the error in approving the tree's removal and pledged to plant another tree in its place. Despite assurances, local residents remain opposed to the consistent felling of trees in the area.
