Priest burnt in petrol bomb attack dies at MB Hospital Udaipur

He was treated for 6 days before passing away on Saturday 26 November, 2022

 

The local preist of Deogarh of Rajsamand district that was set ablaze by some assilants over a land dispute and was under treatment at the Maharana Bhopal Government Hospital of Udaipur since last 6 days after the incident took his last breath on Saturday.Mukesh the son of the decreased has blamed the local MLA and the Sarpunch for the attack.

Annoyed with the incidence the people Prajapat community gathered outside the mortuary and staged protest following their demand of quick arrest of the accused and communsation for the victims family.

Police said that initially it is found that killers were hired to attack the priest Navratan in Rs. 20000. It was also found that those involved in the attack includes the husband of the Sarpunchof Vijaypura  Meena Devi and more than a dozen of other people.

 

The Rajsamand Police has registered a case under section 302 of IPC and have arrested 7 people in connection with the incidence. Those arrested were identified as Narendra Singh Rawat,Bhanwar Singh Rawat,Hrideraj Singh,Ram Singh,Narayan Singh,Jitendra Singh and Bhavesh Singh.Later they protestors got convinced for the postmortem after getting assurance from the administration.Notably the victim and his wife sustained 80% burnt injuries during the attack and were receiving treatment at MB Hospital of Udaipur.



The incident occured on November 20th when the 75 year old deceased preist Navratan Prajapat who was the only priest of the Devnarayan Temple of the area was busy having his meal with his wife and son Mukesh Prajapat. Suddenly few men barked into their house, they dragged Mukhesh,tied him with ropes and set his father Navratna on fire after sprinkling fuel at him and his wife.The accused left the scene immediately after the incident.

It was few minutes later when Navratna's son Mukhesh got himself free and raised an alaram and rushed his parents to the local the hospital and was later reffered to MB hospital of Udaipur for further treatment.

The Divisional Commissioner Rajendra Bhat and Inspecter General of Police Praful Kumar also visited the hospital to take the stock of victim Navratan and his wife's condition and also instructed the doctors to give best treatment to them.Since than the victim couple was under treatment but the condition of the priest was said to be critical.

BJP hit the Congress government hard over the issue.By reacting on the death of the priest the BJP State President Satish Punia said that it was not just the death of the priest but it was the death of the state government and the security as well.He further said that the peaceful state like Rajasthan has now days become the Crime Capital of the country.He further said the criminals have made the state their parmanent address and the newly lodged 8.5 lakhs cases are the proof of it. Punia also said that as per the records of National Crime Bureau (NCB) as many as 17 cases of rape and 7 cases of murders are being registered every day in the state.

On The other hand Prakash Prajapat the District President of Mewara Prajapat Association demanded Rs. 50 Lacs as compensation, government jobs for two of the family members and also strict legal action against the accused, he also said that the role of the local MLA and Sarpunch and also to get the investigation of the matter done through CID CB.He said that if their demands will not be fulfilled with in next 3 days than the people of the community will call for a mass protest and the administration will be responsible for the dire consequences.

According to the son of the priest Mukesh Prajapat the matter is related to disputed land of the Devnarayan Temple, the matter is already under consideration in the court.Prajapat also said that his father was the only priest of the temple since last so many years.But few people wanted to remove his father from the temple, following which an application has also been presented in the court by the rivals and the hearing of the same is scheduled in December this year.
