Proposal to register illegal slurry dumping yards in government accounts

Risks of environmental pollution...

The State Pollution Control Board is taking strict action on 10 slurry dumping yards operating illegally in Sukher,Udaipur. Worried about the risks of environmental pollution, the Board has advised the Baddi Sub-Divisional Officer to document the agricultural lands used for these unauthorized dumping yards in the government's records.

In a letter from Regional Officer Sharad Saxena, it is mentioned that he has consistently worked towards closing down illegal dumping yards. Unfortunately, the slurry mafia and agricultural landowners are reluctant to cease their unauthorized activities. Hence, it would be preferable to officially document such lands in the government's records.

In the same way, Saxena wrote a letter to the local police officer Sukher, asking for an investigation and action against people doing unauthorized things. Also, on Thursday, December 21,2023, UDA workers checked things out, but the report from their inspection hasn't been shared yet.

According to revenue regulations, if someone, be it a tenant farmer or an agricultural landowner, uses land for a purpose not authorized by the competent authority (a change in land use) without proper approval, then, after the required procedures outlined in Section 177, that land can be officially documented in the government's records. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) is responsible for taking action in such cases. It is yet to be seen whether the SDM addresses this matter or overlooks it.
