Army Team Deployed To Search for ‘Killer’ Leopard
Drones, night vision binoculars being used, traps set up within Gogunda villages
Udaipur – An Army team has been deployed in the Gogunda area of Udaipur amid the continuous leopard attacks in the area in the past few days. The team has initiated a search operation to capture the leopard that has killed three people in the last two days within a five-kilometer radius thereby leaving the locals in fear.
Dr Naresh Soni, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), informed that a team of 8 soldiers, led by captain Sandeep Choudhary, has been carrying out a search operation since last night with the help of night vision binoculars. Moreover, drones are also being used to track down the animal.
Senior officials of the Forest Department, including CCF Sunil and DCF Ajay Chitora, were also present at the site. Traps have been placed in various spots within Undithal Bhevadiya and Umaria villages.
Teams from Jodhpur, Sirohi and Rajsamand, comprising 30 forest officials, have also arrived in Gogunda to join the search operation.
Those killed in the leopard attack in Gogunda over the last two consecutive days include a 16-year-old girl, Kamla, and a 50-year-old woman, Hameri Bhil.
