Train derails in Balotra after collision with buffalo
The train cause a 3-hour delay for other trains...
A passenger train from Jodhpur to Palanpur had to suddenly stop near Samdari railway station because the train driver saw a buffalo on the tracks. This caused the coach behind the engine to derail in Balotra district on Sunday, December 24,2023, night.
Railway workers, along with Jodhpur division DRM Pankaj Kumar, used a JCB and crane to put the derailed coach back on the tracks after a buffalo incident. The train route was closed from 9:00 pm to 1:00 AM, causing a 3-hour delay for other trains. The affected train finally left after a 4-hour delay. Unfortunately, the Palanpur-Jodhpur train (number 14894) was canceled for Monday.
DRM Kumar mentioned that the train tracks cracked because of the incident and needed fixing. Passengers from the affected train were then sent to their destination using buses arranged by the railway department.
"Passengers were sleeping when suddenly a big noise was heard and the train halted with a big jolt. Everyone got down and later came to know that a coach had derailed due to some animal coming before the train. Another passenger said that the train had started from Jodhpur at 7:00 pm and stopped suddenly about 200 metres before Samdari railway station." - Pooja Bai, a passenger in the train
