Barmer-Jaisalmer Records Highest Voter Turnout

Banswara Faces Boycott Threat...

The ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan witnessed a significant voter turnout by 5:00 pm, with Barmer-Jaisalmer constituency leading the tally. As per official data, a remarkable 69.79% of votes were cast in Barmer-Jaisalmer, while Banswara-Dungarpur followed closely with a turnout of 68.71%. However, the enthusiasm was low in Pali, recording the lowest turnout at 51.75% by 5:00 pm. Other constituencies saw varying levels of participation, with Ajmer at 52.38%, Bhilwara at 54.67%, and Jodhpur at 58.35%.

In Banswara, getting people to vote was tough at first because nobody showed up at the polling booths. This happened because locals were upset about not being fairly compensated for their land used for a power plant. They even talked about boycotting the election.

Notable political figures, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, BJP state president CP Joshi, and Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, exercised their franchise in their respective constituencies.

Former chief ministers Vasundhara Raje and Ashok Gehlot cast their votes in Jhalawar and Jodhpur, respectively, emphasizing the importance of citizen engagement in the democratic process.

With Pali marking the lowest turnout and Barmer-Jaisalmer leading the count, Rajasthan's electoral landscape reflects varied levels of voter engagement as the state contributes significantly to the national electoral narrative.
