Vistara’s Bengaluru-Udaipur Flight Gets Bomb Threat

Third bomb threat on Udaipur flight in four days; flight cleared for take-off after security check

Udaipur, October 28, 2024 - Yesterday, October 27, a Vistara airline flight from Bengaluru to Udaipur received a bomb threat prompting delay and thorough search. This was the third such incident on an Udaipur flight in four days.

The flight landed at Maharana Pratap Airport in Udaipur at 1:20 pm yesterday and shortly after landing, the crew made an announcement informing passengers about the bomb threat. They were asked to leave their belongings and proceed to a designated safe area.

Dabok Police Station Officer Chandrashekhar Kilania said that the bomb threat had surfaced on social media, prompting security checks. Police and airport security conducted a thorough inspection of passengers' baggage and the aircraft with the help of metal detectors and a dog squad. However, no suspicious items were found and the flight was cleared to depart.

As a result, the flight’s return to Bengaluru was delayed by two-and-a-half hours.

The schedule for this Vistara flight is departure from Bengaluru at 11:20 am and arrival in Udaipur at 1:20 pm. The return flight for Bengaluru is scheduled at 1:55 pm. However, yesterday the flight could take off for Bengaluru only around 4:20 pm.

Readers may recall that on October 24, a bomb threat was received for Alliance Air’s Delhi-Udaipur-Ahmedabad flight. The following day, on October 25, a similar threat was received for IndiGo’s Udaipur-Delhi flight. After thorough inspection, both flights were allowed to depart with a delay of a few hours.

Repeated bomb threats have affected the aviation industry and likely impacting tourism in the area as well.
