MTHL Mumbai : The longest sea bridge in India on its way to completion

The bridge will be 12th longest in the world

The Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), a 22 km bridge connecting the island city with the mainland, is now close to completion after more than 40 years after its conceptualisation. By November 2023, the main deck should be completed and by June 2024, the connecting ramps on each side will be completed. MTHL will be the longest sea bridge in the country and the 12th longest in the world, measuring over 22 km in length of which 16.5 km will be across the sea.

The bridge will begin in Sewri in south Bombay, cross Thane Creek, and come to an end at Chirle on the far suburbs of Navi Mumbai. The MTHL is anticipated to make it from Colaba to the airport in roughly 45 minutes. The extended connectors in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai will shorten travel time between Mumbai, Pune, Goa and Nagpur by two hours.
