Kota Police Develops “Safety App” to Protect Coaching Students

The need for such an app extends beyond Kota

In a unique initiative, Kota Police has developed a new “Safety of Students App” aimed at protecting coaching students in distress. This app allows students to alert authorities in emergencies, with a “Panic” button that, once pressed, prompts police to reach the student within minutes. Authorities have assured that student profiles and personal information will remain confidential.

The app has been created under the guidance of SP Dr. Amrita Duhan, in response to the rise in suicides among coaching students and an increase in cybercrime cases. Dr. Duhan highlighted that engineers collaborated on this SOS app to support students struggling with the pressures of studies and cyber threats. The police plan to officially launch the app soon, and it will be mandatory for all coaching students in Kota to install it on their phones.

The need for such an app extends beyond Kota, as coaching students across India often face intense stress due to high academic expectations. Many also struggle with phone addiction, which can impact mental health and well-being. This app is seen as a proactive step to safeguard students, offering them immediate safety and potentially saving lives by reducing response times in emergencies.
