Kota to have Rajasthan's First Crocodile Park
Crocodile Park Project is Still on Paper
Kota's first-ever crocodile park, planned on forest land at Deoli Arab, is yet to move beyond paperwork. The park is aimed at conserving crocodiles, boosting tourism, and providing research opportunities. However, no progress has been made so far.
The park is proposed to be built on 2.5 hectares near Smriti Van at Deoli Arab. The project is estimated to cost Rs 1.28 crore. Kota is home to a large number of crocodiles, especially in the Chambal River, Chandloi, Kishorepura Pond, and Raipura Drain. During the monsoon, crocodiles often enter waterlogged colonies, posing a danger to residents.
Every year, dozens of crocodiles are rescued in Kota. To address this, the need for a crocodile park was felt, which would help with both conservation and tourism.
Connection to Diversion Channel
The crocodile park will be connected to a drainage system through a diversion channel. Currently, 4 to 5 crocodiles have been moved here. Over time, all crocodiles from the drain will be relocated to the park. A viewpoint is being built for visitors to observe the crocodiles safely.
Basic Facilities Planned
Plans include developing basic facilities such as water supply, pits, solar panels, fencing walls, pathways, and plantations near Deoli Arab Road. An artificial pond and the crocodile park are also part of the proposal.
