Broken Railings at Neemuch Mata Temple Still Not Repaired
Urgent need for railing repairs before Navaratri...
The broken railing at Neemuch Mata Temple remains unrepaired, posing a significant safety risk for visitors. On April 10, 2024, the railing collapsed while youths were taking selfies, causing minor injuries. Despite a proposal for iron railings, no repairs have been made.
The broken railings, which line the steps leading to the temple, were unable to support the weight of those leaning on them. The Forest Department had previously patched the railings with bamboo sticks in December 2023. However, with only Rs 3 lakh allocated for repairs, progress has stalled.
As the Navaratri festival approaches, the number of visitors to the temple is expected to rise. The lack of proper railings increases the risk of accidents. The Tourism Department had requested action from the UDA on February 16, highlighting the danger posed by the current situation.
The repair work will require issuing tenders, which could take at least 15 days. This leaves only 8 days to complete the repairs if the process starts soon. The Forest Department lacks a dedicated team for such work and will need to depend on contractors, while the UDA could potentially expedite the process.
