State Government Proposes Water Rate Hike
November 29,2024 - The state government is planning to discontinue the Chief Minister Rajneer Scheme. The scheme currently waives water charges for families using up to 15,000 liters of water per month.
Along with this, the government is preparing a proposal to increase water rates. A review meeting was held to assess the department’s revenue situation. However, a final decision on these changes is yet to be made.
Private Agency to Handle Billing From Next Year
Currently, meter readings, bill distribution, and bill printing are managed by government employees, with bill printing outsourced to a private agency. Due to a shortage of staff, the government is proposing to outsource meter reading, bill printing, bill distribution, and revenue collection to a private agency. This new system is expected to start in the next financial year.
