Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced a change to former CM Ashok Gehlot's 'Indira Rasoi' program, renaming it to 'Shri Annapurna Rasoi.' The decision was shared during the welcome address to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the party office on Friday, and the official order is expected soon. As per the sources, in 2020, Gehlot changed the Shri Annapurna Yojana, started by Vasundhara Raje in 2016, to Indira Rasoi. This program offered affordable meals at various locations. Unfortunately, since September 2023, some suppliers stopped providing subsidized food due to payment issues.

"The scheme has several loopholes which deterred it from its goal of providing food to the needy. The scheme needs a complete revival and needs to expand its beneficiaries. The contracts will be reviewed to see if they have to be revival called, revived or cancelled." said a government source.

The government is thinking about including millets in the plan for Shree Anna, which focuses on milled grains.

"The contractors get Rs 17 per plate from the government and Rs 8 from the customer under the previous government. The government is also considering increasing the amount so that millets can be added to the platter. The model of both food on wheels and at designated places to continue under the new model." said the official.
