“Cold Moon” or the “Long Night Moon” will be visible tonight, 29th December and 30th December. The December full moon can be spotted just before sunset. Asia Pacific, Europe and Africa will have full moon with 100 percent illumination.
In India, the best time to view the Cold Moon is 7:54 p.m. on 29th December and 8:57 p.m. on 30th December. The best time to view full moon is during moonrise which occurs in eastern sky. The peak time is 15 minutes after moonrise.
The Cold Moon occurs just a few days after the longest night in December. The moon will be above the horizon longer than any other time of the year. It will have a distinctively high trajectory across the sky. South and North America will have this view on 29th December. Asia Pacific, Europe and Africa will have it on 30th December. After this, the moon will appear to be a full blown moon for the next 3 days.
Cold Moon or the Long Night Moon gets its name as December is the month when it starts getting really cold and the event occurs on one of the longest night this month.
