MP Urges Expedited Construction of Udaipur Ring Road
This proposed project will connect highways between Kaya and Kavita and save travel distance by 18-20 kms
Udaipur, November 18, 2024 - MP Dr Mannalal Rawat has urged the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways to expedite the proposed construction of the Udaipur Ring Road from Kaya to Kavita. This project will connect National Highway-48 (Ahmedabad route) and National Highway-76 (Pindwara route).
Dr Rawat told Union Minister Nitin Gadkari that currently vehicles traveling from Ahmedabad and Dungarpur towards Sirohi, Mount Abu and Pindwara have to go through Debari to reach Kavita. The Ring Road from Kaya to Kavita would reduce the distance by 18 to 20 kms thus saving on travel time, he said.
Earlier this year, Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Punjab, had also emphasised on the need for this Ring Road. In February he had written to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways to this effect and even suggested that the Udaipur Nagar Nigam could contribute 20–30% of the expenditure this project would incur.
The new Ring Road is proposed to be four-to-six lanes with a length of 30 kms. The estimated cost is between Rs 1,100-1,200 crore which does not include land acquisition, forest land conversion plus other expenses.
