Daya Dam Overflowed After Heavy Rain in Jaisamand Block

This is the first time the dam has overflowed since 2012

The Daya Dam, located on the Udaipur-Salumber Mega Highway in Jaisamand Block, overflowed on October 13, 2024. This overflow occurred after several months of good rainfall, with recent rains pushing the dam to its limit. This is the first time the dam has overflowed since August 15, 2012.

Local residents reported that heavy rain in the Kevde Ki Naal on Saturday night and Sunday contributed  to the dam's overflow.

The inflow of water was so intense that a layer of about 5 cm began flowing over the anicut built on the dam. Water from the Kevde Ki Naal and smaller streams fills the Daya Dam, causing it to overflow.

After overflowing, the water from the dam flows as a small river through Patodda and eventually merges with the Tidi River.
