E-DL and E-RC System Streamlines License and Vehicle Registration Process in the State
Applicants who paid a smart card fee to the Transport Department before April 1,2024 are now eligible for a refund...
Starting from April 1, 2024, a new electronic driving license (e-DL) and electronic vehicle registration (e-RC) system has been introduced in the state, marking a significant change in the licensing and registration process.
Refund for Smart Card Fee
Applicants who paid a smart card fee to the Transport Department for driving license and vehicle registration before April 1,2024 are now eligible for a refund. Regional Transport Officer Nemchand Parik announced that those who deposited the Rs 200/- fee can apply for a refund at their respective transport offices by April 30, 2024.
Easy Access to E-DL and E-RC
RTO Parik highlighted that applicants can now conveniently download their e-DL and e-RC through the Citizen portal or any nearby e-Mitra center. This allows them to print the documents on paper or PVC cards from the comfort of their homes. Moreover, self-service machines called e-Mitra Plus, installed in transport offices, facilitate the printing of documents on paper or PVC cards.
Transition to E-DL and E-RC
Starting April 1, 2024, things are simplified. Now, when you get your driving license or vehicle registration, you will receive an E-DL (Electronic Driving License) and E-RC (Electronic Registration Certificate) instead of those old smart cards. No more fees for those cards either. Whether it is a renewal or a new application, it is all streamlined now.
