Gas Cylinder Scheme: e-KYC Progress Remains Challenge in Udaipur
e-KYC deadline nears for affordable gas cylinders
November 20, 2024 - The Rajasthan government has included Khadya Suraksha Yojana beneficiaries in its Subsidized Gas Cyliner Scheme to provide affordable gas cylinders. To ensure maximum coverage, e-KYC is being conducted across the state, including Udaipur district.
e-KYC Progress in Udaipur
In Udaipur, 80.76% of beneficiaries have completed their e-KYC. However, achieving 100% remains challenging, especially in tribal areas. Lack of awareness among residents and negligence by some ration dealers are the main hurdles.
“Residents are encouraged to visit their nearest ration shop to complete the registration process in the system. Those who fail to do so may lose access to affordable gas cylinders and subsidized food grains. This task is being treated as a top priority, and strict action will be taken against ration dealers found negligent in carrying out this work.” - Manish Bhatnagar, DSO Udaipur
Registration Essential for Benefits
Beneficiaries need to complete e-KYC to access affordable gas cylinders and subsidized food grains. The process requires consumers to provide their Aadhaar number and gas connection details to ration dealers, who input the data into PoS machines.
Deadline for e-KYC
The district administration has set a deadline of November 30 for e-KYC completion. Orders have been issued to sub-divisional officers and tehsildars to accelerate the process. With only ten days left, officials are working under a sense of urgency.
Notices to Negligent Dealers
Ration dealers play a key role in data seeding. However, 109 ration dealers in Udaipur have been issued notices for avoiding the use of PoS machines. They have been warned of suspension if they fail to perform their duties.
The administration is determined to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries complete their e-KYC on time to avail the benefits of the scheme.
