During Diwali, from homes and shops to temples and markets, everything is adorned. Generally, everywhere, series lights and various types of illumination are used. Due to this, electricity consumption in the city has increased by up to 1.66%. On regular days, 120 megawatts of electricity were being used daily, but now this figure has become 122. With the commencement of the festival of lights, from Friday onwards, there will be a requirement of 125 megawatts of electricity daily.

In anticipation of the festival of lights, the electricity board has taken proactive measures. Between November 10 and November 14,2023 the board has designated specific responsibilities to 60 engineers and 64 technical staff. This strategic allocation aims to ensure the smooth functioning of the electricity infrastructure during this period of increased demand.

Furthermore, recognizing the importance of swift response, the board has established 7 first response teams. These teams are equipped and ready to address any technical issues or emergencies that may arise, contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of the electricity supply during the festival.

In response to electricity fault complaints, these teams are poised for rapid intervention. SE Girish Joshi highlighted the deployment of officials at critical locations such as Ghanta Ghar, Bapu Bazaar, Laxmi Temple-Bhattiyani Chhota, Gulab Bagh road. These areas bear the highest electrical load during the festival.

To bolster the infrastructure, additional transformers have been strategically stocked for these grids. This includes 2 transformers of 315 kVA, 3 transformers of 250 kVA, 3 transformers of 105 kVA, and 6 transformers of 100 kVA. This proactive approach aims to mitigate the risk of transformer malfunctions attributed to the heightened load on the grid. The functioning of transformers will be vigilantly monitored as the load increases.
