According to data from the Panchayati Raj Department, despite Rajasthan being declared Open Defecation Free (ODF) on March 8, 2018, a total of 85,316 families in the state are still lacking toilets. In Udaipur district alone, there are 3,623 families without access to proper sanitation facilities. This information highlights the ongoing challenge of ensuring universal access to toilets under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in Rajasthan. 

On June 5, a total of 9,933 gram sabhas were conducted throughout the state to identify eligible families. Ravi Jain, the secretary of the Panchayati Raj department, announced that once the families' names are registered on the portal, toilets will be constructed at their respective residences. 

During a review meeting of the Panchayati raj department on June 9, 2023, the data revealed that a total of 85,316 families were identified across 11,145 gram panchayats in Rajasthan. The issue of these families was brought up for discussion during the meeting. Barmer district recorded the highest number, 11,145 of families without toilets. Likewise, 7,821 in Sriganganagar , 4,230 in Jodhpur, 3,866 in Bharatpur district, 3,709 in Alwar, 3,625 in Karauli were recorded with no toilet facilities.
