Fateh Sagar Gates Open after Heavy Downpour
Day temperatures drop by about 4 degrees, Dabok records highest rainfall in district
Udaipur, October 14, 2024 - Two weeks after the departure of the monsoon from the region, Udaipur experienced heavy rainfall yesterday, October 13, following three days of drizzle. The region was lashed by heavy rain for about six hours beginning 2:00 am and continuing until daybreak. This caused temperatures to drop significantly in the day by about 4 degrees and night temperatures fell by 2 degrees.
Met department sources say the rainfall was caused by a depression in the Arabian Sea that had affected weather in the region for the past 12 days.
Dabok recorded the highest rainfall in the district with 4.5 inches. Udai Sagar and Vallabhnagar got 4-4 inches of rain while Gogunda recorded 3 inches.
Following the downpour, water flow in the rivers increased. Sisarma river’s flow into the Pichola grew by about three feet. The gates of Fateh Sagar were opened by 4.3 feet, and both gates of Udai Sagar were also opened by 6-6 inches.
