MLA Suggests 5-Ft Wide Footpath Around Fatehpura Crossing
City MLA Tarachand Jain inquired about the compensation status for the affected landowners and shopkeepers.
Udaipur, November 7, 2024 – City MLA Tarachand Jain visited the Fatehpura intersection yesterday to inspect the clean-up operations being carried out by the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA) after the demolition of shops on one side of the circle. The UDA has been working round the clock to remove the debris.
While discussing future development at the crossing, MLA Jain told UDA engineers that the intersection expansion should be aesthetically pleasing. He asked that the intersection design should leave little scope for unoccupied patches leading to unauthorised vehicle parking. He suggested that footpaths at least 5 feet in width should be constructed around the crossing to allow pedestrians to cross safely.
MLA Jain also discussed the future design of the intersection with Municipal Corporation's chief engineer Mukesh Pujari and UDA’s executive engineer Neeraj Mathur. Other officials present at the site included UDA Tehsildar Abhinav Sharma, Patwari Surpal Singh, Municipal Corporation Mayor GS Tank, former Deputy Mayor Mahendra Singh Shekhawat, Girish Sharma, Gajendra Jain and Mangu Singh Rawat.
Furthermore, the MLA inquired about the compensation status for the affected landowners and shopkeepers.
Readers may recall that the UDA and Udaipur Municipal Corporation officials had demolished around 20 shops at the Fatehpura chauraha on November 3 following an approval from the Rajasthan High Court to begin road widening work in the area. After the demolition, the UDA began the debris removal process. So far, a significant portion of the debris has been cleared. In the coming days, the area where the shops stood will be paved with asphalt to develop the crossing.
