Forest Fire Ravages Udaipur's Sajjangarh Area
Efforts Ongoing to Control Blaze
A raging fire in the Sajjangarh forest area of the city persisted through Friday night on April 19,2024, defying attempts at extinguishing it. Over 200 forest workers, members of the Forest Security Committee, and labourers tirelessly battled the flames throughout the night.Strong winds made it tougher to control. The fire kept coming back in different places.
According to sources from the Forest Department, the fire outbreak was reported around noon on Thursday in the jungle behind Sajjangarh. Since then, concerted efforts have been underway by the department's personnel, committee members, and labourers to bring the inferno under control. Strategies including clearing tree branches and establishing temporary fire lines were employed, yet the fire remained unyielding.
On Friday morning, people tried again to stop the fire. More workers came this time, including officials like Deputy and Assistant Forest Conservators. They all gathered at the scene. Even with more help, they couldn't completely control the fire.
By Friday night, officials felt hopeful about managing the situation and hoped to control it by 10:00 p.m. It is important to note that the Sajjangarh forest area is known for needing a lot of help during emergencies. In the past, they have even called helicopters to help put out fires.
