The Forest Department, with the support of World Wide Fund for Nature, set up the Raptor Exhibition at Sajjangarh Palace. Assam's Governor, Gulabchand Kataria, inaugurated it on Sunday, January 21, 2024. Attendees included Udaipur city Legislator Tarachand Jain, Rural Legislator Phool Singh Meena, District Collector Arvind Kumar Poswal, Chief Forest Conservator R.K. Jain, and others graced the event by their presence. Additional Forest Conservator Arun Kumar D and Deputy Forest Officer Ajay Chittora shared detailed information about the exhibition. 

Following this, he reviewed the augmented reality TV show and deemed it highly attractive for children. He inspected Sajjangarh Palace and its surroundings, providing directives for garden maintenance, among other aspects. Additionally, he instructed them to ensure the availability of adequate and proper toilets for tourists within the premises. 

Afterward, everyone went to Sajjangarh Biological Garden to check the new reptile section being built. R.K. Jain  explained how different snakes would be kept there and shared plans on a map. Arun Kumar D., the other forest official, said the project would finish in three months.

Raptors, commonly known as hunter birds, play a vital role in controlling the populations of pests like rodents and snakes. Some of these birds are excellent at keeping the environment clean, contributing to the ecological balance and preventing the spread of diseases. 

In India, there are 107 species of raptors, and unfortunately, 15 of them are endangered. The raptor population is naturally low because these birds require specific habitats, making them extremely sensitive to changes in their environment. Unfortunately, factors like deforestation, environmental pollution, toxic substances, the use of pesticides, and harmful veterinary drugs are negatively impacting their numbers and habitats. 

Raptor shows play a vital role in education, awareness, and conservation efforts, offering numerous advantages for both tourists and the wider public. These benefits encompass education, fostering an appreciation for nature, promoting conservation awareness, providing cultural experiences, contributing to the economy, offering entertainment value, supporting wildlife rehabilitation and more.
