Govt Sanctions Rs 94.04 Crore Towards Road Repair in Udaipur

Stretch near RTO Udaipur in deplorable condition; neglected since more than a month

 

Udaipur, October 10, 2024 - Roads in certain areas of Udaipur are in a deplorable condition after the monsoon. One such example is the road which stretches from the new RTO office to Sukher Tiraha via Khelgaon. The asphalt on the road has come off leaving behind large potholes. It has been a month since one side of the road has been closed to traffic and a single lane is coping with traffic in both directions.

The UDA had claimed that this road would be constructed with highway-level infrastructure in order to deal with heavy vehicles on that route. This project was passed at a budget of Rs 9 crores and was slated to be complete by November of 2023. However, till today 5% of the project remains unfinished.

Meanwhile, the state government, under the initiative of Deputy Chief Minister Diyakumari, have sanctioned Rs 964 crore towards repairing roads damaged by the rains. This will cover a total of 2,328 projects across the state.

In Udaipur division, Rs 9404.62 lakh has been sanctioned for the permanent repair of roads damaged during the rains. Of this, for Udaipur district under the Public Works Department, Udaipur City and Udaipur Rural Divisions, a total of Rs 3260.18 lakh has been approved for 78 projects. This includes Rs 1364 lakh for the Kherwara Assembly constituency, Rs 660 lakh for Vallabhnagar, Rs 576 lakh for Udaipur Rural, Rs 355.42 lakh for Gogunda and Rs 31.2 lakh for Mavli.

Similarly, Rs 1260 lakh has been sanctioned for 182 projects in Rajsamand district, Rs 1750.73 lakh for 24 projects in Chittorgarh district, Rs 1102.71 lakh for 24 projects in Slumber district and Rs 2031 lakh for 19 projects in Bhilwara district.
