Heavy rainfall hits 14 Rajasthan Districts
Udaipur, Jaipur, Jalore, Bharatpur and Ajmer recorded heavy rainfall
On Monday, July 10, 2023, intense monsoon rains affected several parts of eastern and central Rajasthan, leading to flooding. The Secretary of the Disaster Management and Relief Department, PC Kishan, reported that areas such as Sirohi, Ajmer, Pali, and Karauli experienced very heavy rainfall, but no flood-like conditions were observed. 10 Districts, including Udaipur, Jaipur, Jalore, Bharatpur, and Ajmer, recorded heavy rainfall.
Tragically, during the incident, a seven-year-old boy was swept away by the overflowing waters of a drain in the Murlipura area of Jaipur. PC Kishan mentioned that rescue teams have been placed on high alert. Earlier, the Meteorological Department issued a yellow alert for heavy rainfall in Udaipur, Alwar, Banswara, Baran, Bharatpur, Dausa, Dholpur, Dungarpur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur, and Sirohi on Monday. Today, on July 11, 2023, Baran, Bundi, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Kota, Pratapgarh, and Sawai Madhopur are expected to experience heavy rainfall.
According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rainfall was recorded in various locations until 8:30 am on Monday. Abu Road in Sirohi received 160 mm of rainfall, while Ajmer recorded 137mm. Baniwas in Pali experienced 128mm of rainfall, and Masalpur in Karauli received 120mm. Sambhar in Jaipur and Bagoda in Jalore both received 99 mm of rainfall, followed by Tonk with 98mm.
